Papers consist of: (1) Handscript letter (December 3, 1853) written by Josiah L. Parrish stating that Dick Johnson, an Indian, has made improvements on a piece of land in Umpqua Valley (Oregon) and requesting that Johnson's claim to the land be protected; (2) handscript contract (1860) between Parrish and Andre McCally for the rental of a grist mill in Salem, Oregon.
